Elastics or Rubber Bands
Elastics improve the overall fit of your upper and lower teeth. We advise that you wear them as prescribed for your unique treatment.
Forsus Fatigue Resistant Device
Forsus Fatigue Resistant Device is an alternative for the traditional headgear. In short, it corrects overbites and prevents the need for jaw surgery.
Headgear
The headgear treats overbites and underbites. In summary, it gently pulls the jaw and teeth to correct the alignment.
Herbst Appliance
This appliance corrects overbites by moving the lower jaw forward. At the same time, the upper molars are moved backward. Oftentimes, the Herbst appliance is prescribed to younger children to be worn for 12 to 15 months.
Palatal Expander
This appliance widens the upper jaw by applying pressure onto the upper molars. Adjustments to widen the upper jaw are to be made periodically as prescribed by the doctor.
Positioners
The positioner appliance is usually worn for 4 to 8 weeks to complete the final teeth alignment.
Retainers
Retainers help your teeth stay in place after treatment. Be sure to use them as prescribed. They help prevent regression which can happen if retainers are not used properly.
Separators (Spacers)
Separators are thick rubber doughnuts that are placed between teeth. Essentially, they gently push teeth apart for orthodontic bands to be placed in the future. Avoid sticky foods, floss, and dental picks as they may affect the separators.
